Energy Psychology is a group of techniques and tools designed to focus intention and disrupt patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are no longer wanted. These techniques are truly a mind-body intervention as they involve the client tapping or lightly touching specific points on their body or engaging in specific exercises to help disrupt the old patterns that are interfering with life. By working with both the physical and energy bodies these techniques can be helpful with a range of concerns.
Energy Psychology is a broad term that refers to clinical and self-help strategies that involve activating specific acupuncture points (usually by tapping, holding or massaging) while mentally activating a targeted psychological issue. Pranic Healing is a biofield-based therapy that helps cleanse, balance and energize the mind-body energetic processes to encourage self-healing.
The National Institute of Health recognized the term “biofield” beginning in 1994 to describe naturally occurring energy fields of the body. While many believe these fields are electromagnetic in nature there is a growing number of scientists that believe the biofield to contain additional information that includes nonclassic and quantum energy fields. From this model, the energy fields are believed to interpenetrate and exist outside the physical body and incorporate concepts such as the meridians and chakras.
Prana is a Sanskrit word that is translated as “life force.” This term is essentially equivalent to the Chinese Qi (or Chi) and represents the energy that moves in and around us. One of the basic concepts of biofield and “energy” therapies is that dysfunctions in the emotional, psychological and physical bodies initially manifest in the subtle (or energy) body. It is believed that by working directly with this energy to cleanse, balance and energize the system with healthy, healing energy, the system is better able to heal.
Pranic Healing is a non-touch energy healing system similar to Reiki. Physical contact is not necessary because the practitioner is working on the energy body rather than the physical body. Consequently, it is a modality that can easily be incorporated into a therapy session and blended with other interventions.
